Fuso #448
Dave Moulton was a British-born frame builder known for his semi-eponymous Fuso labeled steel lugged bicycles. Dave was first introduced to framebuilding in England in 1957. He built frames for the British Olympic team ridden in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Dave moved to the United States in 1979 to build bikes for Paris Sport in New Jersey, which supplied bikes to the U.S. Olympic team, though the 1980 boycott of the Moscow games meant that his bikes were not used in Olympic competition. Dave would move to California and work at Masi USA before opening his own frame shop in San Marcos in 1983. He would produce frames under his own name, John Howard, and Recherché, in addition to Fuso, which translates to "molten" in Italian. Dave Moulton passed away on May 4, 2025, at the age of 89.
