ALAN was founded in 1972 by Lodovico Falconi in Italy, the company named derived from the names of his children, Alberto and Annamaria. ALAN was the first manufacturer to develop a successful method for bonding aluminum alloy tubes into threaded lugs. It went on to manufacture frames for many companies, including Guerciotti, Colnago, DeRosa, Olmo, and others.
ALAN built bicycles were ridden to stage victories in all three grand tours as well as many other pro races. They also were under riders who won 20 world cyclocross championships and five world track championships at the elite and other levels.
